NHL 10 continues to look better and better as we slowly inch closer to its September release. This new video showcases some of the new features we have gotten glimpses of in the past few weeks, such as the new Boardplay system, increased crowd interaction, and First Person Fighting but it also brings it all together and shows off a full range of new animations in addition to these new features.
The animations that allow players to catch a high flying puck and slap it down with either their stick or hand is a welcome addition. I have found it frustrating in past hockey games that if a puck is above knee level, there is little way to gain control of it. This should add another layer of realism to the game. The after the whistle stuff looks very interesting, as well. It should be fun trying to infuriate your opponents with cheap shots. Also, the behind the back shots and the diving goalie animations look really smooth and go a long way to break that sort of stiff and predictable motion that games can often be guilty of. It really makes for a game that looks and should feel very realistic.
