UFC 100 delivered. It was a historic event for the largest MMA company in the world, the UFC. 100 pay-per-view events is incredible when you think back to where this sport started. Once deemed "human cockfighting", MMA has become a bonified sport that the US and the whole world are embracing. Unfortunately, certain actions at UFC 100 could threaten the development and perception of the UFC.

Former WWE superstar, Brock Lesnar faced off with Frank Mir to unify the heavyweight titles. It was an incredibly one sided, violent beat down. Frank Mir is no slouch and an incredible fighter. Lesnar made him look amateur. He used his massive size and strength to neutralize everything Mir threw his way (which wasn't much), consistently took him to the ground and pound the hell out of him. It was no surprise when the ref had to step in and stop the fight at 1:48 of the second round. Mir had been bloodied and battered to the point of unconsciousness. Unfortunately, Lesnar reverted back to roid-monkey WWE tactics rather than be a man.

Brock's behavior after winning this fight was despicable. He immediately taunted Mir, while Frank was still bloodied and trying to figure out where he was. The crowd rightfully started booing. A normal human being would have realized their error and calmed down right? Not Captain Douche Bag. Lesnar immediately ran around the ring flipping the middle finger to the crowd. To take it one step further, in his post fight interview with Joe Rogan, Lesnar insulted Bud Light. Dana White and Budweiser must've loved having the major sponsor be insulted on the biggest night of the company.

Lesnar should be ashamed. Dana White better sign Fedor Emelianenko right after his August 1 fight for Affliction so Brock can get the beating he deserves.

Analysis of the rest of the card after the jump.

Georges St. Pierre's run of dominance continues

St.Pierre looks unstoppable. The man is pound for pound one of the best fighters in the world and put that talent on full display at UFC 100. He outwrestled and dominated Thiago Alves to a unanimous decision. Alves is a great fighter, and one of the top fighters at his weight class and he was completely outmatched against St. Pierre. I can't see anyone at 170 beating St. Pierre right now. He is too focused and way too talented. Hopefully, a superfight with Anderson Silva is going to be in the works soon.

Dan Henderson KO's Michael Bisping

The coaches from the most recent season of the Ultimate Fighter finally squared off. Amidst weeks of bad mouthing and a season of exposure, both fighters could not afford to lose. Neither man looked like they wanted this fight to go anywhere near the ground. They each trade blows (a very bad sign for Bisping), Henderson, the seasoned veteran and only man ever to hold titles in two weight classes at once, finally landed the knockout punch with a massive right hand in the second round.

Unfortunately he immediately threw a leaping right forearm on his already unconscious opponent. Another act that was probably not good for the UFC's image in the mainstream, though not nearly as bad as Lesnar. I can't say I cared all that much, however. Bisping does nothing but talk shit before fights. Maybe Henderson finally shut him up. Dan definitely proved he deserves a rematch against Anderson Silva.

The rest of the card was extremely entertaining. It was by far the best ppv of the year for the UFC and one of the best ones I've ever ordered in terms of consistently entertaining fights. The rest of the results were as follows:

  • Jon Fitch def. Paulo Thiago via unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Yoshihiro Akiyama def. Alan Belcher via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)

Undercard

  • Mark Coleman def. Stephan Bonnar via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Jim Miller def. Mac Danzig via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
  • Jon Jones def. Jake O'Brien via submission (guillotine choke) - Round 2, 2:43
  • Dong Hyun Kim def. T.J. Grant via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)
  • Tom Lawlor def. C.B. Dollway via submission (guillotine choke) - Round 1, 0:55
  • Shannon Gugerty def. Matt Grice via submission (guillotine choke) - Round 1, 2:36

SmakAttack

I watched almost all of the TUF leading up to this fight and I must say that Dan Henderson came off as a down to earth and even-keeled guy while Bisping came off as big trash talking d-bag. I'm glad that elow came raining down on his face at the end of the fight. Go Hendo!
