EA Sports' President Peter Moore announced yesterday during a financial conference call that Grand Slam Tennis for the next-gen consoles will be "delayed indefinitely," according to an IGN report.
EA Sports officially stated the following::
"We're pleased with the product quality and sales for Grand Slam Tennis on Wii and it's been obvious to us that the sport of tennis is best captured in a videogame when leveraging motion control and we are moving development resources from our tennis team to our EA Sports Active franchise. We believe this is a good swap and expect this decision to yield positive results."
All you next-gen tennis fans are stuck with Virtua Tennis 2009, not that that's a terrible thing. I have to say myself that I don't buy what EA Sports is selling us, tennis games don't necessarily need motion control to be fun and many of us prefer the next-gen consoles over the Wii because of the level of presentation that only they can provide. In any case, don't expect to see Grand Slam Tennis on a 360 or PS3 any time soon, if ever.
