Details on EA's expansion of the Madden franchise, with a casual downloadable title for the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation 3 Store, were revealed today. Developed by EA Tiburon, Madden NFL Arcade will arrive in December and be priced for download at 1,200 points or $14.99. This will be the second foray into the downloadable arcade styled sports game for EA, following 3 on 3 NHL Arcade from early this year.

They said we'd love it; they said you could manage your team on the go, from anywhere in the country so long as you were connected to the 3G network; they said they'd “have an app for that.” But when Madden NFL 10 stormed store shelves last month, many overzelaous fans, like me, were left asking “where is it?”

I, like many, began Googling for the answer and we didn't like what we found. Apparently EA Sports' promises were empty ones, at least partially. You see, they claimed they were developing an iPhone application that would allow you to interact with the all new Online Franchise mode in Madden 10, but they neglected to mention that it wasn't going to be ready until a month after the game released.

Well, last week EA made good on their promise and the Madden NFL 10 Online Franchise Companion app hit the iTunes app store, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait.

It's early but it looks like there are already teams showing their dominance with high scoring games. Maybe they haven't played a good defense yet?  Possible, but here is the Week 2 break down.

To me, one of the biggest gaming surprises this year was Madden NFL 10 (Wii). I was extremely skeptical when I received the game, but shortly thereafter, the inferior-looking game spiked a football right in my face. The game was widely addictive in the arcade realm, but also provided enough depth to satisfy my simulation needs. EA took the casual trend and implemented it in a very successful fashion.

This is why I’m happy to cover Family Fun Football, which seems perfect for anyone who enjoys local multiplayer or co-op. The game caters to the casual market as well as providing incentive for Madden-diehards, and even those unfamiliar to the sport, to give it a try.
I emailed some questions to Tecmo and was able to get a producer’s response on what to expect with Family Fun Football.

After a super fast fantasy draft that could have caused seizures, the GamePro Sports online franchise league got underway with its opening week. Some teams were just like their real life counter parts while others showed that miracles can happen just like the recent Lions win over the Redskins.

My team, the Boston Boozers, have a few good level 20 offensive players, but that's because I spent basically all my develpment points on them after my first game

Madden NFL 10 has hit stores, the NFL regular season is underway and GamePro Sports has kicked off its first ever Madden 10 online franchise, but there's one more football game that should not go unforgotten — Quick Hit Football.

Many of you may remember our first look preview of this free-to-play, browser-based, NFL Head Coach-like football game. Well, Quick Hit Football has come a long way since then, and I recently had a chance to get in on the development team's internal beta test as they power toward their late Oct. release date.

The Madden franchise has spanded 2 decades and is constantly branching out. Initially, you could only play Madden in the comfort of your own home (or someone elses), but that changed long ago. Along with this year's magnificant console versions (Wii included), we're given another opportunity to take some pig-skin on the go with Madden NFL 10 (iPhone).

As you may have guessed, this game doesn't exceed the powerhouse console iterations, but it does pretty well for a portable football game (especially considering the iPhone's limitations). With all the negatives aside, its a great game to have with you at all times.

EA Mobile is heading in the right direction with their first Madden title for iPhone. Hopefully we can get some serious updates soon instead of waiting for next year's iPhone app.

Last night's game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans kicked off the 2009 NFL regular season. And if the exciting finish of that game is any indication to how this season will unfold, fans have much to look forward to.

Any gamer who was watching closely last night – to the pre-game and commercials, not the game – may have noticed that EA Sports was a major sponsor for the season opener, and for good reason. Madden NFL 10 has been incredibly well received by critics and fans alike, with almost everyone touting how it's not just another glorified roster update, and the company wants to keep the ball rolling with their flagship franchise.

Thus, to commemorate the 50th season for the original eight teams of the American Football League (AFL), EA Sports has announced a downloadable “Legacy Pack.”

Madden NFL 10 Wii is instantly discredited due to its assigned system, the technologically inferior Nintendo Wii. Granted, the game is different than its console counterparts, but included in this year’s iteration are numerous and unique game modes that you won’t find anywhere else. With multiple ‘play calling’ and throwing options, Madden NFL 10 Wii emphasizes on the ‘pick up and play’ fashion while also catering to the more dedicated and simulation-hungry audience, even though it suffers from a few minor tribulations
