EA Sports' President Peter Moore announced yesterday during a financial conference call that Grand Slam Tennis for the next-gen consoles will be "delayed indefinitely," according to an IGN report.
EA Sports officially stated the following::
"We're pleased with the product quality and sales for Grand Slam Tennis on Wii and it's been obvious to us that the sport of tennis is best captured in a videogame when leveraging motion control and we are moving development resources from our tennis team to our EA Sports Active franchise. We believe this is a good swap and expect this decision to yield positive results."
All you next-gen tennis fans are stuck with Virtua Tennis 2009, not that that's a terrible thing. I have to say myself that I don't buy what EA Sports is selling us, tennis games don't necessarily need motion control to be fun and many of us prefer the next-gen consoles over the Wii because of the level of presentation that only they can provide. In any case, don't expect to see Grand Slam Tennis on a 360 or PS3 any time soon, if ever.
Throughout the years I've had a love/hate relationship with tennis games. From the original Virtua Tennis on dreamcast to Topspin 3 and Virtua Tennis 3 on Xbox 360. All of these games have tried to bring tennis onto the couches of many homes, but, currently, they've all fallen short to Wii Sports Tennis.

Yesterday, EA Sports released some B-Roll footage of Grand Slam tennis gameplay and, I must say, it looks promising.
